Made to get the Indians off with so doing- and in that case it will be used in the most prudent manner, and under circumstances that will fully justify it.
I have appointed James xxxx Physician to the Miami emigration, with the xxx of the contractors; and he has accepted the appointment xxx.
I have in the morning for the purpose of attending the council to be held. I cannot now say when it shall be here again, but I will keep you advised of every movement we make with the results.

Sir.
I had the honor to receive on the evening of the 21st your letter of 12th informing me that a Military force had been ordered by the President to aid if necessary in effecting the emigration of the Miami. On the morning of the 22d I proceeded to the residence of the Chief and child a consultation with him on the subject and succeeded in convincing him that his people would now be required to remove.
A council had been called to be held tomorrow evening and next day morning, at which I shall fully explain to the Indians the view of the Department, and give all necessary allowances of kind treatment xx.
Capt. Xxxx arrived here with his force about three oclock this afternoon and awaited my return which was soon after, and after conversing with me on the subject of the emigration he immediately proceeded to Peru, where he will remain until the result of tomorrow next days council is made known to him. When the emigration will be immediately xxx on foot in some way.
The prompt action of the Government in furnishing a force has had a first rate effect upon the Indians, to enable me to bring then into prompt action convincing them that the Government of the United States is not to be trifled with.
