Colonel:
You will see from the communication (of the commissioners) of Indian Affairs to the Secretary of War, of this date, a copy of which is herewith enclosed, that the presence of a small military force is called for at Fort Wayne, Indiana to insure the (illegible) and peaceful removal of the Miamia Indians to their new homes West of the Mississippi, under treaty stipulations. For this purpose, you will please to organize, arm and equip the permanent (illegible) at New York Barracks, with the adoption of such good (illegible) as well bring up the number of privates to sixty-four, with orders to the Commanding officer to proceed forthwith to Fort Wayne, and on his arrival see Mr. Sinclear, the Agent with whom he will freely communicate, and co-operate, in the excemtion of his instructions, received from the War Department relative to the removal of the said Indians. 

Captain Lovett, (illegible) Infantry, recruiting at Louisville, Kip, has been ordered to report to you for the command of the  Company, to which you will place to assign an experienced (illegible). It is not supposed that the troops will be absent from New York Barracks more than ten or fifteen days, during which time Captain Macral
