Fort Wayne, May 27, 1844 Allen Hamilton , Esq. Agent of Miami Indians : Dear Sir: Having became a contractor for collecting, subsisting, and removal of the Miami Tribe of Indians, now under your agency, I take occasion to inform you that I am prepared to furnish all the facilities necesary for those purposes, at which time, and under each conditions as may be deemed best calculated to advance the views of the general government, and, at the same time, carry out its just and humane ^intentions^ towards that tribe. I will be happy to hear such suggestions as you may be pleased to make, in regard to the contemplated removal, reflecting my entire readiness to cooperate in all measures [devolving?] upon me by the contract. Very truly, Your friend, Thos. Dowling
