Miami Sub Agency

When at Washington city, I [illegible, very light] recommending the immediate removal of a few of the Wea tribe, still living in the Wabash. I have learned through Col. Ewing of ryou desire to be informed if they be a branch of the Miamis. I am [distinctly?] informed and believe they are. On the emigration of the Weas to their present country, this remnant of that tribe, remaining with the Thorn town Maimies with whom they had intermarried. Owing to a large part of the Miami tribe not being present at the treaty made by Genl. Tipton in 1827 or 1828- for the cession of the Thorn town reserve as it was [acting?] and feeling unsatisfied with the transfer of that reserve without the consent of the whole Miami tribe. They afterwards [illegible] their words[?] from a participation in the Miami annuity. This [illegible] party counts principally of women & children in great parity, without the means of subsistence during the ensuing winter. I cannot [debate?] their being a Branch of the original Miami tribe. They speak the same language. With [illegible] due difference
