for those applying permission to remain, and that the President will confirm the award of Fitch Murray and Steward, as Dr. Fitch writes that he will no doubt succeed in effecting every thing at Washington that the Indians can reasonably expect. 

Dr. Fitch has not conducted himself in this matter as I had a right to expect, instead of aiding me as it was his duty to do, he has done more to retard the emigration by his enormous pretensions and promises than any other man in the country, indeed from his continued disregard of all obligations to aid in the emigration, and his absences for so long a time after the day set for the commencement of operations induce me to believe that he does not wish to go.

I will address you again as soon as our council is over, in the mean time I hope for the best.
