on Miami Lands, Nov 5<sup>th</sup> 1846.

Sir,
the emigrating Miamies left the mouth of Kanzas River on Monday the 2<sup>d</sup> inst, and they have been arriving here during yesterday & today, a portion of them rode their poneys, and they residue with the baggage was brought through by the contractor in waggons.

We had one more death on the 3<sup>d</sup>. ( a boy of about 16) he had been a long time sick and was improving in health until by imprudence he brought about a relapse. This makes in all, seven deaths that have occurred during the emigration.

On the 4<sup>th</sup> I sent an express to Col Vaughan with a letter from me reporting my arrival here, and soliciting his early attention to the acception of the Miamies, and hopes soon to have the pleasure of making his acquaintance; and of handing over to him the Indians under my charge in compliance with your directions.
