I left the new Miami Country in Nov. last and return&amp;lt;sup&amp;gt;d&amp;lt;/sup&amp;gt; to this city. I remained here until the 27th of Febry last. Maj. Harvey having started up on the 25&amp;lt;sup&amp;gt;th&amp;lt;/sup&amp;gt; of that month with the Miami Annuitys due them for 1846. I also started up on the 27th two days later than the Majr. We had very [illeg] weather, &amp;amp; were 12 days reaching the Miami Port travelling most of the way through severe rainstorms.&lt;br /&gt;

I reached my friend Mr. Jos. Clymer residence distant three miles from the Miamis, on the evening of the 14&amp;lt;sup&amp;gt;th&amp;lt;/sup&amp;gt; March. the next morning I rode down to the encampment where we have a small store, about ten Oclk that morning Majr Harvey arrived with two waggons carrying 37 Boxes specie. We gave him the best quarters we had for himself &amp;amp; his money. In two or three days thereafter, as soon as the sub Agent got there &amp;amp; the superintendant arranged his business the payment was made. The Indians rec&amp;lt;sup&amp;gt;d&amp;lt;/sup&amp;gt; their money nationally, in all perhaps near $37.000. They then got their sub Agent as I was told to superintend the payment &amp;amp; distribution of their money. And of this I presume he has fully advised you, I had no thing to do with it what ever, but was present part of the time the day Col. Vaughan paid out the money.
