The family of the 4 chiefs (Ko-assee-Mese-quiah, White Loon and Rivarree) in named to you in my last letters, and which Messrs Hamilton + Benoist refers to) are now very small- and we will do all in our power to persuade them to go: these chiefs returned with Lafontaine.

Some of them I learn are better pleased with the country West, than they expected to be; Ko-assee- (now the first chief) was very well pleased with the Country you lately gave their Pottawotomee friends, [on the] Kansas; and could they get Country there, [illegible]all the tribe not required by treaty to go can be Induced to Emigrate
